
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Erin Mills recorded the
match-clinching point at No. 2 singles in leading the 31st-ranked
Tusculum College women's tennis team to an 8-1 South Atlantic
Conference victory over Coker College Saturday afternoon at the
Nichols Tennis Complex.
Tusculum (12-1, 4-1 SAC) won two of the three doubles matches,
including an 8-2 pro set win at the top flight pairing of Franziska
Funke and Amanda Sumner. TC was also victorious at No. 3 doubles
as Kate Hutchinson and Emily Waters combined for an 8-3 victory
over Jessi Campos and Suzanna Mickey.
Mills claimed the deciding point with her 6-3, 7-5 straight set win over Coker's Jennifer Mezei.
Tusculum swept all six singles matches, including wins by Kealee Heffner, Funke, Mills, Hutchinson, Adrienne Kaye and Sarah Baker.
The Pioneers return to action Sunday afternoon as they host Newberry College for a noon contest. It will be a rematch of last year's SAC Tournament championship match, which Tusculum won 5-4.
Sunday will also be Senior Day for Kate Hutchinson as she will be honored in pre-match ceremonies at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
