HARROGATE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball team dropped its regular season finale in three sets to Lincoln Memorial on Saturday (Apr. 9) afternoon.
The Black and Orange (6-19, 1-6 IVA) fell by scores of 25-20, 25-12, 25-17 to the Railsplitters (17-7, 7-0 IVA).
Johansen Negron tallied a match-high 12 kills on a .471 hitting percentage, followed by Matt Friddle notched eight on a .467 clip. Ryan Foy handed out 25 assists, while Matthew Gentry landed a pair of service aces. Attia Soliman dug up a match-high eight attempts. Both Dawson Walker and Friddle are credited with five block assists.
Jake Whyte and Colby Landry led the Pioneers with 10 and seven kills, respectively. Shaun Kampshoff notched 22 assists and a team-best two aces. Taylor West is credited with six digs, just ahead of five by Kampshoff. Whyte also headed up the net defense with three block assists.
Lincoln Memorial ended the match with a .411 hitting percentage with 30 kills and seven attack errors on 56 total attempts. Tusculum totaled 27 kills, 22 errors, and 83 swings for a .060 hitting percentage. The Pioneers led the match in aces (5-3), while the Railsplitters ended with more assists (29-26), digs (25-15), and total blocks (10-4).
Tusculum will have just under two weeks to prepare for the IVA Tournament, hosted by Queens University of Charlotte, running from April 22-23.
