Pioneers round out regular season in Tennessee

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball team wraps up the 2022 regular season schedule with a pair of weekend matches. The Pioneers will host Edward Waters on Shaun Kampshoff's Senior Night on Friday (Apr. 8) before making the short trip to Lincoln Memorial for a Saturday (Apr. 9) matinee.

Kampshoff is currently the program's all-time leader in kills (293), service aces (75), digs (210), points (414.5), and matches played (56). He's also second in attempts (714), assists (732), assists per set (4.33), total blocks (83), and sets played (169).

RECAPPING THE WEEK
Tusculum (5-18, 1-5 IVA) lost a tightly-contested match at King in its lone action of the week.

TU was fueled by Dane Loup's 13 kills (.333) and Jake Whyte's 12. Kampshoff tallied 36 assists and was one of three Pioneers to record an ace: Loup and Colby Landry. Taylor West scooped up a career-best 13 digs in the three-set match. Whyte and Kampshoff finished with two block assists, alongside Shaphar Grant's one solo and one assist. Hunter Walck's one block assist rounded out the defensive category.

On the season, Whyte leads the offense with 246 kills, while Landry follows with 162. Loup and Grant are close behind with 153 and 135 kills, respectively. Kampshoff has handed out 715 assists and landed 44 service aces. Three Pioneers have at least 100 digs on the season: Taylor West (111), Kampshoff (104), and Loup (101). Grant has tallied 57 blocks (15 solo, 42 assists), ahead of Deklan Wingo's 46 (10 solo, 36 assists).

Nationally, Tusculum ranks 13th in aces per set (1.51) and 27th in attacks per set (26.70). Individually, Kampshoff is fifth in aces per set (.530) and 27th in assists per set (8.58). Whyte is 16th in attacks per set (8.16).

LOOKING AHEAD
Edward Waters (9-17) is in its inaugural season as a program and is 6-1 in the first year of Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) sponsorship. Evens Edouard has landed 304 kills, an average of 3.23 per set, followed by Kaelan Ingram (243) and Daniel Montero (174). Kenyon Haynes has totaled 697 assists, while Edouard also heads up the ace category with 46. Five Tigers have contributed at least 100 digs: Edouard (119), Oneil Daley (117), Haynes (111), Ingram (109), and Victor Jerez (104). At the net, Jamesly Metayer has accumulated 75 total blocks (20 solo, 55 assists).

Lincoln Memorial (16-7, 6-0 IVA) will be fresh coming into the finale, having eight days off from competition. The Railsplitters are ranked fourth in the latest Off the Block Division II poll and picked up the Independent Teams Player of the Week honor with Johansen Negron. Negron leads LMU with 177 kills, just ahead of 173 by Cole Campisano. Kohl Kutsch has dished out 686 assists and 124 digs, both team-bests. Negron and Matthew Gentry lead the serving column with 21 and 19 aces, respectively. Dawson Walker is credited with 87 total blocks (13 solo, 74 assists) to hold the commanding advantage. LMU ranks third in opponent hitting percentage (.189) and sixth in blocks per set (2.443) nationally. Individually, Walker is sixth in blocks per set (1.160) and 15th in hitting percentage (.398).
