Cooper Finishes Seventh at Greater Louisville Classic
LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Tusculum senior David Cooper recorded his fastest time of the season to claim a seventh-place finish in a stacked field at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky. Sophomore Samantha Vogt was the Pioneers' top finisher on the women's side.

The event was contested at the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. The Pioneer men finished 23rd out of 43 teams representing NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and NJCAA. Cooper, a native of Greeneville, Tennessee, posted a time of 26:02.63 on the 8,000-meter course.

Junior Lawson Burrow was TC's second finisher, and bested his old season-best time of nearly three seconds with a time of 27:28.47 to claim 91st place honors. The Pioneers' third finisher was freshman Jacob Cutshall, who came home 145th with a new career-best time of 28:22.87.

Senior Zachary Simpson was scored as Tusculum's fourth finisher with a season-best time of 28:28.32. Junior Erick Koskey made his Pioneer debut and recorded a time of 29:27.21 to be TC's fifth scorer.

Sophomore Corey Ramsey and freshman Gray Deanda also posted new season-best times. Ramsey eclipsed the 30-minute mark for the first time this season with a time of 29:45.30, while Deanda ran the course in 30:24.11.

The Pioneer women didn't post a team score due to only having four runners compete in the race. Vogt set a new season-best time, and broke the 20-minute barrier, by finishing the 5,000-meter course in 19:55.08. The Maryville, Tennessee native was 53rd overall and 14th among DII competitors.

Sophomore Paige Bible also set a new season-best mark with a time of 21:58.79. Junior Ashley Gregg recorded a season-best time of 22:57.96, while sophomore Allison Hall ran the course in 24:25.01 for a new season-best time.

Both Pioneer squads will return to the course next Saturday (Oct. 11) at the annual Royals Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte, North Carolina.
