Cooper and Vogt lead the Pioneers at Hyder-McMahill Invitational
MONTREAT, N.C. --- The Tusculum College cross country teams participated in its second meets of the season Saturday morning in Montreat, North Carolina.

The Pioneer men finished third overall at the Hyder-McMahill Invitational, with senior David Cooper as their top finisher in third place. The women's squad finished seventh overall and sophomore Samantha Vogt was its top finisher with a seventh place showing.

All six TC mens harriers claimed top-50 finishes and recorded their fastest times of the season. Cooper, a native of Greeneville, Tennessee, ran the 8,000-meter event in 27:01.95. Freshman Caleb Cutshall claimed his second-consecutive top-15 finish with a 14th place effort (28.55.61), while fellow freshman Jacob Cutshall was the Pioneers' third finisher in 22nd with a time of 29:19.50.

Senior Zachary Simpson recorded a time of 29:40.42 to claim 29th place honors. Junior Lawson Burrow crossed the line in 20th (32:03), sophomore Cory Ramsey in 45th (31:38.32), and freshman Gray Deanda in 48th (31:45.16).

On the women's side, all five runners also posted their fastest times of the season. Vogt ran a 20:48.32 on the 5,000-meter course, while junior Paige Bible recorded a time of 23:52.59 to claim 36th place. Senior Ashley Gregg came in 48th with a time of 24:32.18.

Junior Allison Hall finished the course in 25:36.56 for 57th place honors, and freshman Alexis Berlin recorded a time of 26:11.61 to finish 60th.

After a few weeks off, the Pioneers will return action on Saturday, Oct. 4 in Louisville, Kentucky at the Greater Louisville Classic.
