Tusculum cross country to support ?Couch-to-4-Mile? training program

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- For a third straight year, the Tusculum College cross country team will be participating in a community service project with the "Couch-To-4-Mile" program announced Pioneer head coach Cory Pratt.

The "Couch-To-4-Mile" program is a FREE training program for beginning runners and is a service to the community by the Tusculum cross country program and American Greetings AG Wrappers.

The 10-week training program will culminate with the fourth annual THE HOPE 4 Event on May 26 with all proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society.

THE HOPE 4 is a competitive 4-mile run, a non-competitive 4K walk and a 1-mile kids' fun run.

Registration for the graduation race is available on THE HOPE 4 web site at: www.THEHOPE4.com.

In the "Couch-To-4-Mile" program, participants will gradually strengthen their mind and body by alternating walking with brief periods of running. Thousands have become successful, lifetime runners using similar programs... and you can too!

Join the group each Monday from 5:30 - 6:15 p.m. beginning March 17 thru May 19. The group will meet at the Niswonger Student Commons on the Tusculum College campus. The walking and running activities will take place in and around the College campus and on the Tusculum linear trail.

The March 17 session will include an orientation and information on running/walking basics. Following a brief talk at the start of each session, participants will choose to walk or run in one of four groups, based on their pace.

Runners/walkers of all ages and experience are encouraged to participate.

For more information and to register, visit www.THEHOPE4.com or call (423) 636-2141. Registration will also be available at the first session on March 17.
