CROSS COUNTRY COMPETES AT WINTHROP INVITATIONAL

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum's Simon Holzapfel finished 10th and Alicja Dembna posted a 29th-place finish at the Asics/Winthrop Cross Country Invitational, held Saturday morning at the Winthrop Farm. The Tusculum men recorded 133 points to finish fifth, while the women's team place sixth with 164 total points.

Holzapfel posted a time of 19:40 on the 6,000-meter course. TC's Sean Crawford finished 30th with a time of 20:58, while Elvis Machado tallied a time of 21:40 to finish 34th. Will Jusino finished 45th with a time of 23:00, while Matt Ross (24:15) and Conner Graves (30:11) finished 52nd and 61st, respectively.

Dembna finished 29th in the women's race with a time of 16:55 on the 4K layout. Kelsey Longwell recorded a time of 21:38 to place 43rd, while Jill Stiles (22:41), Karen Henniger (23:32) and Estefania Chavez (24:52) finished 44th, 45th and 46th, respectively.

The Pioneers return to action next week at the 2008 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championships to be held in Irmo, S.C. next Saturday.
