INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The Tusculum University women's volleyball team is tenth in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings, through matches of Nov. 6.
The Pioneers are 18-6 overall and 17-5 against region opponents, and are in third place in the South Atlantic Conference with a 14-3 league record. Tusculum brings a streak of six consecutive victories into its regular-season finale against Mars Hill on Wednesday night, and is assured of hosting a SAC Championship tournament quarterfinal match on Monday, Nov. 13 at Pioneer Arena.
Lander (26-3) is the top team in the region, followed by Wingate (22-2), Augusta (23-4) and Anderson (23-4) in the top four. USC Aiken (15-9) is fifth, followed by Mount Olive (20-9), North Greenville (23-5) and Lenoir-Rhyne (19-9) in eighth. Emmanuel (18-10) is ninth, ahead of Tusculum in this week's rankings. The same 10 teams were listed as "under consideration" in the first ranking of the season last week.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections on Nov. 20.
The Southeast Region consists of volleyball programs from the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt Conference. Each league in the Southeast Region will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament and will be joined by five at-large teams to comprise the eight-team Southeast Regional which will be held Nov. 30 – Dec. 3 at campus sites.
