FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. --- Tusculum volleyball setter Shannon Murphy has been named to the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational All-Tournament Team.

Murphy, a senior from Tinley Park, Illinois averaged 9.81 assists and 2.81 digs per set as the Pioneers went 2-2 in the tournament.  She totaled 157 assists, 45 digs and 15 blocks in her four outings.

The Pioneers opened the season with an impressive 3-0 sweep over defending NCAA Division II East Region champion American International.  Murphy tallied 33 assists while also posting four kills, two service aces and two blocks in the victory.

She recorded the first of three straight double-doubles with 25 assists and 10 digs in Tusculum's 3-0 loss to defending Sunshine State Conference champion Saint Leo.

Tusculum bounced back with a five-set win over Saint Anselm as Murphy led the charge with her career-high 51 assists to go along with her 15 digs and five blocks.  She followed that effort with 48 assists, 18 digs and five blocks in a 3-2 loss to host Nova Southeastern.

Murphy became only the eighth player in program history to eclipse 1,300 assists in her career.  Her 1,311 assists are the eighth-most in Tusculum history, while her 6.15 assists per set average is seventh in program history.

The Pioneers (2-2) will open South Atlantic Conference play this Friday night at 7 p.m. when they host arch-rival Carson-Newman at Pioneer Arena.
