and 12 digs.
Tusculum improves its record to 7-1 in the South Atlantic

With the score knotted at 13-13 in the first set, a kill by
Hasse gave the Pioneers their first lead of the match. TC used a
6-2 run to increase its advantage to 20-15, and force an L-R
timeout. After the break, the Bears answered with a 5-0 run to tied
the set at 20-20.
After an attack error by the Bears, Hasse and Lenoir-Rhyne's
Ashley Wells exchanged kills on six consecutive points that tied
the score at 23-23. Garnett gave TC set-point on a kill, and the
Pioneers won the set on an attack error by the Bears' Morgan
Bunker.
Lenoir-Rhyne held an early 5-3 lead in the second set, but a
10-0 Pioneer run off the serves of Hasse gave TC a 13-5 advantage.
The closest L-R would get to the lead in the set was seven points,
and Tusculum cruised to the 11 point second-set victory to take a
2-0 lead in the match. The Pioneers held the Bears to a -.143
attack clip in the set.
Fueled by the momentum of the lopsided second-set victory, the
Pioneers came into the third game hot, and jumped out to an early
8-2 lead. However, the Bears used a 5-0 and a 7-0 run to take their
first lead of the set at 14-13. Both sides traded the lead four
times, but TC found itself holding a 19-15 lead late in the game on
the heels of a pair of 3-0 runs.
L-R fought back to cut the deficit to 23-22 late, but a
service error by Brooke Redman gave the Pioneers match-point. Wells
recorded a kill to make the score 24-23 and keep the match alive
momentarily, but a huge kill by Garnett gave TC a 25-23 third-set
victory, and a 3-0 win.
Wells led the Bear offense with 11 kills, while Briana
Gottberg dished out 26 assists. Ashley Markland recorded 16 digs,
while Redman added nine kills and nine digs.
