--- Tusculum College's Caitlyn Dean has been named to the South
Atlantic Conference All-Tournament Volleyball Team announced league
officials.
Dean, a senior libero/defensive specialist from Fort Wayne, Ind.,
averaged 6.25 digs per set during last weekend's SAC Tournament as
the Pioneers advanced to the semifinal round. She recorded 19 digs
and two assists in TC's 3-0 quarterfinal win over Mars Hill on
Friday. She followed with Saturday's 31-dig performance in a 3-2
semifinal loss to Anderson. In that match, she also contributed
five assists and two service aces.
Joining Dean on the 2013 SAC All-Tournament Team is Wingate's Anna
Hilton, who was named the SAC Tournament Most Valuable Player. Also
named to the SAC All-Tournament Team were Brittney Barren (Queens),
Alix Hooker (Anderson), Priscilla Irizarry (Anderson), Allison
Rickher (Wingate) and Alison Cooke (Wingate).
This marks the third time in her Tusculum career that Dean has been
named to the SAC All-Tournament Team (2010, 2012, 2013).
Dean leads the South Atlantic Conference averaging 6.06 digs per
set, which are seventh in the nation (NCAA II). Dean's 3,164 career
digs are a NCAA Division II record and the ninth highest tally for
all NCAA divisions. Dean's 31 digs on Saturday marked the 40th time
she has posted 30 or more in match during her storied career.
Tusculum (21-10) will learn its postseason fate on Monday night
with the release of the 2013 NCAA II Tournament bracket. TC is in
quest of making its fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament
