Trio inks with Tusculum volleyball

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Three more student-athletes have committed to attend Tusculum College and play volleyball for the Pioneers announced TC head coach Michael Robinson.

This next group of signees includes: Jaida Allen, Danielle Smith and Sarah Bouley.

Allen, a middle blocker from Conyers, Ga., played her prep career at Rockdale County High School, where she was named Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and was a three-year varsity letter-winner. She was also tabbed The Rockdale Citizen Athlete of the Week and established the school single-season blocking record with 84. She is ranked in the top 8 in the state of Georgia for 10 blocks in one playoff match and was selected to the All-Region first team and led Rockdale County to the state playoffs in three consecutive years.

"Jaida caught my eye at camp and I knew immediately that we had to get her in a Pioneers jersey," said Robinson. She's got a huge upside with her athleticism and she has been coached really well so far. I have no doubt that she will thrive being in a competitive collegiate environment on a daily basis."

Smith, native of Andersonville, Tenn., was a two-time All-District libero/defensive specialist at Anderson County High School. She led her team to a District championship and was named the 2012 team most valuable player. The 2012 Region All-Tournament team member also earned All-State recognition and competed at the USA junior nationals.

"I had the opportunity to work with Danielle this past club season and absolutely love the passion and dedication she puts toward volleyball. She is a fiery athlete who is eager to improve each time she steps foot in the gym," Robinson said. "I am excited to have Danielle joining the Pioneer family and look forward to working with her more."

Bouley, an outside hitter from Cincinnati, Ohio, earned All-State honors while playing at Archbishop McNicholas High School. She earned All-GGCL first team honors twice, including 2011 where she was named the GGCL Player of the Year. She was named to the All-Cincinnati Enquirer first team on two occasions (2011 & 2012), was named 2012-13 Sportswoman of the Year and played in the Division II all-star game.

"Sarah makes a great addition to the Pioneer Family. She is a very well-rounded volleyball player who will make a seamless transition into our program," added Robinson. "I am extremely excited about having her on board and look forward to seeing an immediate contribution from her."

This year's recruiting class also includes previous signees Rachel Garnett, Moriah Jones and Andrea Amettis.

Tusculum is coming of a 24-8 season as the Pioneers earned the program's fourth consecutive berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament, while advancing to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history."
