GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College volleyball coach
Michael Robinson has announced that three
student-athletes have committed to attend Tusculum and play
volleyball for the Pioneers. Joining Tusculum this fall are
Sam Underwood, Bailee Price and
Alyssa Raterman.
Underwood, a 6-0 outside hitter/middle blocker from Muncie, Ind.,
was a three-time All-State selection at Cowan High School. She was
a First Team All-State choice in her final two prep campaigns,
while also garnering All-Conference and All-County recognition four
times. Underwood was an All-Area pick in 2007 and was the MVP of
the Blackhawk Invitational in her senior season.
She also played her club volleyball for Munciana. Off the court,
she was twice named to the National Honor Society and is a member
of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
"Sam is an outstanding addition to the Tusculum Volleyball
program," said Robinson. "She not only brings explosiveness and
athleticism to our offense, but is a quality young lady. Her
tremendous will to win and her love for volleyball shows every time
I watch her play. Coming from an outstanding club and high school,
she knows nothing except high level volleyball. We are fortunate to
gain a player and person like Sam."
Price, a 5-9 outside hitter from Fort Wayne, Ind., was a four-year
starter and three-time team captain at Northrop High School. She
also played for the N3 Volleyball Club. She earned All-Summit
Athletic Conference First Team honors three times and was a
three-time All-Area First Team honoree. Price was named to the
All-Northeast Indiana Fist Team twice, while earning Second Team
All-State recognition in her senior campaign. In 2008, she was
named Conference Player of the Year and was the recipient of the
Glass Spike Award from the Summit Athletic Conference.
"I am excited to add a player and person like Bailee to our
program," Robinson said. "She brings so much to the table, being an
excellent defender, primary serve receiver, and an incredible
offensive threat. She has the ability to hit the ball with pace and
the intelligence to hit crafty shots as well. In addition to
gaining a very well rounded volleyball player, we have also gained
a terrific young lady. Bailee is an excellent fit for our
program."
Price was named the 2008 Prepsports Volleyball Player of the Year
and is Northrop's all-time leader with 1,309 career kills. She is
also second in school history with 186 career service aces and
third with 877 career digs. She helped lead her prep team to three
Sectional titles, including her senior year where she posted 444
kills, 332 digs and 57 aces.
Price is currently a member of the Student Council and has been a
member of the "Stay in Bounds Program and Teaching Academy for
three years.

Team All-League honors three times and was also a three-time
All-County selection. She earned All-District 9 recognition in her
junior and senior seasons and garnered All-Ohio Honorable Mention
in 2008. During her senior campaign, she led Urbana in kills,
blocks and digs as her team advanced to the State Regional
semifinal.
"The addition of Alyssa to our program is tremendous," Robinson
added. "She brings athleticism, intelligence, and outstanding work
ethic, and this is what will allow her to succeed in the middle for
us. I expect Alyssa to come in and make an impact for us not only
on offense, but defensively I think she has the ability to shine
