TUSCULUM EARNS NO. 2 SEED, FACE CARSON-NEWMAN FRIDAY IN SAC TOURNAMENT

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The Tusculum College volleyball team will be the No. 2 seed at the 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament, to be held this Friday and Saturday on the campus of Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn. Tusculum will face tournament host and seventh-seed Carson-Newman at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Pioneers (24-9, 11-3 SAC) finished second in the conference, their best league finish in its association with the SAC. Tusculum's 11 SAC wins are the most in school history, while the 24 victories are tied for the most by the Pioneers since reclassifying to NCAA Division II in 1998.

Tusculum swept the season series over the Lady Eagles and has won the last four regular season encounters. But this will be a rematch of last year's SAC Tournament quarterfinal as C-N eliminated the Pioneers 3-1 in Wingate, N.C.

Tusculum has won its last three matches and five of its last six contests. The Pioneers will conclude the regular season on Tuesday when they host King College for a 6:30 p.m. match.
