GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Mariana Rezende recorded
a double-double with 45 assists and 11 digs to lead the Tusculum
College volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Lenoir-Rhyne College
Friday night at Pioneer Arena. The Pioneers (18-7, 7-1 in South
Atlantic Conference) have won 10 straight matches as they remain in
sole possession of second place in the league, one match behind
front-runner Wingate University.
Vivian Lacy added 16 kills, seven digs and a .353 hitting
percentage (16-4-34), while Kelsey Hayden finished with 10 digs,
eight blocks and a .444 attack percentage (10-2-18).
The Bears (13-10, 2-4 SAC) were led by Katie Novacek, who had a
sensational hitting night, posting 13 kills on 21 attempts with no
errors (.619). Lauren McClelland dished out 32 assists, while
Catherine Fulton tallied 23 digs.
Tusculum rookie Katie Luebke hit .462 on the night as she finished
with 13 kills to go along with four block assists.
Both teams will be in action on Saturday. Tusculum will host
Brevard College for an 11 a.m. match, while L-R travels to Mars
Hill College for an 11 a.m. league tilt.
Tusculum's match with Brevard College has been designated "Dig For
the Cure" Day as both team will be raising proceeds for the Susan
G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
