Pioneers jump to 38th in ITA rankings, two schedule changes announced

TEMPE, Ariz. --- The Tusculum University women's tennis team moved up three positions to 38th in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II national team rankings, the ITA has announced.

The Pioneers won two of their three matches last week, beating Quincy 5-2 on Thursday at Hilton Head, South Carolina before splitting South Atlantic Conference matches with Coker (3-4) and Anderson (4-3) over the weekend.

Tusculum is joined in the ITA rankings by fellow SAC members Newberry (23rd), Wingate (26th), Anderson (45th) and Lenoir-Rhyne (48th). Tusculum will play Lenoir-Rhyne on March 29 at home and will play at Wingate on April 6.

Non-conference opponents who are ranked this week are North Georgia (6th), Georgia College (46th) and Charleston (47th). The Pioneers are 2-3 against teams ranked in this week's poll, with victories over Newberry (5-2) on Feb. 29 and Anderson this past Sunday.

The Pioneers have made two changes to their upcoming schedule, head coach Tim Dunford has announced. Tusculum's match against Limestone that was scheduled for this Saturday, March 23 has been moved to Sunday, March 24 at 1 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex. In addition, the exhibition match that was scheduled for Wednesday, March 27 at UNC Asheville has been canceled.
