BLUEFIELD, W.Va. --- Tusculum University swept Bluefield State College 7-0 in non-conference women's tennis action Sunday afternoon.
The Pioneers (5-3) took advantage of a Big Blues (0-1) lineup that had just four players to earn the victory.
In doubles, Tusculum won by default at flight three, and captured the team point at flight one as Valentina Loretz and Elodie Baechler beat Juliana Jimenez and Adriana Torroba Tejada 6-4.
Tusculum led 3-0 before a point was played in singles, and Loretz clinched the win for the Pioneers as she defeated Jimenez 6-3, 6-0 at flight one. Baechler defeated Tejada 6-0, 6-1 at flight two and Thilda Danielsson earned a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Virginia Zanotti at flight three. Johanna Palacio finished off the sweep as she beat Paulina Moreno 6-2, 6-0 at flight four.
The Pioneers will travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina for a series of matches during spring break, beginning on Saturday, March 9.
