Pioneers earn 7-0 sweep over Milligan

MILLIGAN, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's tennis team defeated Milligan University 7-0 in non-conference action Thursday afternoon.

The Pioneers (1-0) lost a total of 12 games across six singles matches, winning three by 6-0, 6-0 scores, after sweeping three doubles matches from the Buffaloes (2-1).

In doubles, the team of Elodie Baechler and Valentina Loretz beat Marta Miralles and Macy Kennedy 6-1 at flight one, Leonie Floeth and Ylva Frafjord Landa defeated Kylie Enarson and Lauren Wimmer 6-2 at flight two, and at flight three Johanna Palacio and Johanna Selde won 6-4 over Tiana Shelton and Trinity Fox.

In singles, Loretz won 6-0, 6-0 against Kennedy at flight three, Baechler won 6-1, 6-2 over Miralles at flight two, and Floeth clinched the victory with a 6-3, 6-4 win at flight one against Enarson. At flight four, Landa beat Shelton 6-0, 6-0, Palacio won 6-1, 6-1 over Fox at flight five, and Selde downed Hannah Dove 6-0, 6-0 at flight six.

The Pioneers will participate in the Eagle Invitational at Carson-Newman on Oct. 13-14 before playing their lone home match of the fall against North Greenville on Saturday, Oct. 21.
