SUMTER, S.C. --- Sophomore Ylva Frafjord Landa advanced to the Round of 16 in singles on the second day of the ITA Southeast Region Championship at the Palmetto Tennis Center.

The Pioneers waited out a four-hour delay in the aftermath of early-morning rainfall, then saw Landa rally from a set down to beat Svetlana Teterina of North Georgia 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the Round of 32 Saturday afternoon.

Landa, who was the deepest advancing Pioneer in last year's tournament, will face Jada Young of Georgia College in the Round of 16 at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. A win would send her into the quarterfinals at 3:30 p.m. Sunday against the winner of the match between Ashleigh Simes of Lee and Johanna Lippert of North Georgia. The semifinals and finals will be played Monday.

Valentina Loretz also advanced to the Round of 32 in singles, but lost 6-2, 7-5 to top-seeded Nadja Meier of Flagler. In consolation play, Elodie Baechler beat Luize Valtere of Erskine 6-1, 6-1 while Leonie Floeth fell 6-2, 1-6, (10-3) to Mille Elsborg of Lander.

In doubles, the team of Baechler and Valentina Loretz beat Alexis Burkhalter and Frankee Hendricks of Belmont Abbey 8-6 in the Round of 32, but the duo of Meier and Dana Heiman of Flagler beat Baechler and Loretz 8-4 in the Round of 16. Also in the Round of 32, Floeth and Paulina Loretz lost 8-6 to Ishita Singh and Rosie Harfield of Newberry.
