Pioneers begin fall schedule this weekend at LMU

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's tennis will play in the first of three fall tournaments this weekend when the Pioneers visit Lincoln Memorial University on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16.

In addition to LMU, the Pioneers will participate in the ITA Southeast Regional Sept. 22-25 in Sumter, South Carolina and play at Carson-Newman on Oct. 13-14.

Tusculum is also scheduled to play in a pair of dual matches in October. The Pioneers will visit Milligan on Thursday, Oct. 5 and will host North Greenville on Saturday, Oct. 21.

A total of four All-South Atlantic Conference honorees highlight the Pioneer roster for first-year head coach Tim Dunford. Last year, the Pioneers went 17-7 overall and shared the SAC regular-season championship with an 11-1 record in conference play. Tusculum was the SAC Tournament runner-up and received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament, and ended the season ranked 23rd by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Junior Leonie Floeth (Toenisvorst, Germany) was a first-team All-SAC honoree in singles after going 18-12 last season and 8-3 in conference play at flight one. In doubles, the team of junior Elodie Baechler (La Rippe, Switzerland) and senior Valentina Loretz (San Mateo Atenco, Mexico) finished 13-5 last season and 10-0 in conference play to receive second-team All-SAC honors, while senior Paulina Loretz (San Mateo Atenco, Mexico) was 7-3 in conference play and 13-12 overall en route to second-team All-SAC doubles recognition.
