Pioneers capture All-Academic Team honors from ITA

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's tennis team has been honored for its academic success by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the 2021-22 season.

The Pioneers were among 110 women's tennis programs in Division II honored by the ITA as an All-Academic Team, with eight team members receiving Scholar-Athlete recognition. Tusculum's women's tennis team had the highest cumulative grade-point average among the Pioneers' 24 athletic teams, with a 3.88 GPA for the 2021-22 season.

ITA Scholar-Athletes must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year, with ITA All-Academic Team recognition based on a team GPA of 3.2 or above. Across Division II, a total of 715 women were honored as ITA Division II Scholar-Athletes for the 2021-22 season.

Tusculum women named to the ITA Division II All-Academic Team were senior Emilie Hansen, juniors Rory Church and Chelsea Daugherty, sophomores Paulina Loretz, Valentina Loretz and Johanna Palacio, and freshmen Elodie Baechler and Tabitha Howe.

The Pioneers were ranked 56th in the final ITA Division II poll of the 2021-22 season, going 13-8 overall and finishing fifth in the South Atlantic Conference at 8-4 under first-year head coach Matt Frost.
