Pioneers listed 37th in latest ITA Division II rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. --- The Tusculum University women's tennis team is 37th in the latest Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Women's Team Rankings.

The Pioneers finished the 2021 season with an 11-8 overall record and tied for fifth place in the South Atlantic Conference with a 7-5 league record. Tusculum defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 4-3 in the conference quarterfinals before being eliminated by Queens in the semifinal round. Five of the Pioneers' eight losses came to team ranked in the current ITA Top 50.

Individually, Annie McCullough is ranked 27th in singles, down five positions from her singles ranking at the beginning of April. The Belfast, Northern Ireland native finished the season with a team-best 13-2 record in singles, including a 6-2 mark in conference play. McCullough finished her Tusculum career as the program's career leader in overall singles wins with 104, and is second in career dual-match singles victories with 67.

Tusculum is one of four SAC teams in the ITA Top 50, joining Wingate (13th), Queens (22nd) and Carson-Newman, which is tied for 37th with the Pioneers along with Missouri-St. Louis.
