GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's tennis team earned a South Atlantic Conference victory with a 7-0 win over UVA Wise Friday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
Playing against a Cavalier squad that had just five players, the Pioneers (9-4, 6-2 SAC) won both contested doubles matches and all five singles matches that were played for the victory over UVA Wise (2-11, 0-8 SAC).
In doubles, Annie McCullough and Caitlin McCullough defeated Liza Akimenko and Katya Akimenko 6-3 at flight one, and Emilie Hansen teamed with Martina Marras for a 6-2 victory at flight two over Grace Hall and Sarah Moore.
In singles, Annie McCullough picked up her 67th career dual match win with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at flight one over Liza Akimenko, and Hansen defeated Katya Akimenko 6-3, 6-1 at flight two. At flight three, Caitlin McCullough won her seventh straight match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Hall, and Marras beat Moore 8-2 at flight four. At flight five, Javiera Ortiz defeated Lillian Morris 6-1, 6-0.
The Pioneers will travel to Catawba on Monday at 2 p.m. in a match rescheduled from March 27 due to weather.
