Pioneers move up to 13th in ITA Division II rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. --- The Tusculum women's tennis team moved up to 13th in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II National Team Rankings, the ITA announced Wednesday.

The Pioneers (16-0, 6-0 South Atlantic Conference) remained undefeated with wins over Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhyne by identical 9-0 scores last week, and moved up six positions from 19th last week. Tusculum has been ranked in the top 20 each of the last three weeks, after being 15th in the initial ITA spring rankings two weeks ago.

In singles, Franziska Funke climbed 22 positions to 31st in this week's rankings, with Katarina Majorova ranked 64th and Annie McCullough ranked 68th. The doubles team of Annie and Caitlin McCullough is ranked 14th this week, down four positions from last week's 10th-place ranking.

Tusculum is one of four SAC teams in the ITA rankings this week, joined by Wingate at 21st, Queens at 37th and Newberry at 39th. The Pioneers will face each of those teams in the final 10 days of the regular season, beginning Saturday when Queens visits the Nichols Tennis Complex for a 10 a.m. match.
