ROCK HILL, S.C. --- For the third time this season and second week in a row, Tusculum College freshman Erin Mills has been honored as the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week in Women's tennis, the SAC office announced Monday.
Mills went 2-0 in both singles and doubles to lead the Pioneers to victories over Brevard (6-3) and Lincoln Memorial (7-2), which clinched the number-two seed for Tusculum in the upcoming Food Lion SAC Tournament.
At number-three singles, Mills extended her winning streak to seven straight matches with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Katie Ouellette of Brevard and a 6-2, 6-3 win over LMU's Alexandra Granger.
In doubles, Mills and Taylor Patterson ran their streak of consecutive victories to 13 with an 8-2 win over Ouellette and Elise Labus of Brevard and an 8-4 triumph over Granger and Elena Vasilyeva of Lincoln Memorial.
Overall, the Duluth, Ga. native has a 14-4 singles record and went 8-1 in SAC contests, while in doubles she is 16-3 overall, including a 14-2 mark with Patterson. The team of Patterson and Mills went 8-1 against SAC opponents, and is a perfect 14-0 at flight two this season.
The Pioneers (16-3, 8-1 SAC) will play either Anderson or
Lincoln Memorial in a conference semifinal match on Friday at 1
p.m. at the Rock Hill Tennis Center in Rock Hill, S.C.
