The Tusculum College Women's tennis team is ranked 10th in the
Southeast Region in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association
(ITA) Division II rankings, released this week.
The Pioneers climbed into the rankings after winning seven of their
last eight matches, including victories over 49th-ranked Anderson
on Feb. 23 and 43rd-ranked West Liberty on March 13. Tusculum is
9-2 overall, with its only losses coming to Francis Marion and
Young Harris, ranked third and fourth, respectively, in the region
this week.
Armstrong Atlantic holds the number-one spot in the region
rankings, followed by Columbus State, Francis Marion, Young Harris
and Clayton State in the top five. Augusta State is ranked sixth,
trailed by Georgia College, Erskine, Wingate and Tusculum. Updated
national rankings will be released next week.
The Pioneers have an immediate showdown with a regionally-ranked
opponents as they travel to Wingate Friday afternoon for a 2 p.m.
match. The Bulldogs were ranked 34th in the latest national poll,
which was released at the end of February.
