The South Atlantic Conference honored Tusculum College freshman
Erin Mills as the league's Player of the Week in Women's tennis, it
was announced on Monday.
Mills compiled a perfect 3-0 record in both singles and doubles
action to help the Pioneers win three straight matches during the
Spring Break Bash in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
At number-three singles, Mills defeated Baldwin Wallace's Morgan
Baker 6-1, 6-2 and downed Charleston's Mallika Mali 6-2, 6-4. An
injury forced the Duluth, Ga. native to move up to number two for a
match against Raissa Wischi of West Liberty, ranked ninth in the
Atlantic Region. Mills posted a 7-5, 6-3 victory to spark the
Pioneers to a 7-2 win over the 43rd-ranked Hilltoppers.
Playing with teammate Taylor Patterson at flight two of doubles,
Mills earned wins of 8-1 over Mackenzi and Morgan Baker of Baldwin
Wallace, 8-4 over Charleston's team of Mali and Ana Maria Pena, and
by an 8-6 score over West Liberty's Zineb Houssaini and Alex Barr.
Mills has a season record of 7-3 in singles action and 8-3 in
doubles for the Pioneers, who carry a 9-2 overall record and 1-0
mark in the SAC into weekend matches at Wingate (Friday at 2 p.m.)
and Catawba (Saturday at 11 a.m.).
