GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College
women's team returned to its winning ways with Sunday's 9-0 victory
over visiting Lees-McRae College at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
The Pioneers (3-1) bounced back from Saturday's home loss to Young
Harris College with a convincing shutout of the Bobcats (0-3) as TC
dropped just one set in its nine (singles/doubles) matches on the
afternoon.
Tusculum swept through doubles, including an 8-0 pro set win by the
No. 3 doubles duo of Megan Buckmaster and Marissa Lewis as they
defeated the LMC pairing of LeeAnn Sullivan and Emily Jones.
Kate Hutchinson accounted for her second point of the afternoon with her 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles over Samantha Wohlers.
TC also got singles wins by Taylor Patterson, Emily Waters, Erin Mills, Adrienne Kaye and Amanda Sumner.
Tusculum will open South Atlantic Conference play this Friday afternoon when the Pioneers host defending league co-champion Anderson University for a 1 p.m. contest at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
