Three Pioneers named to All-SAC Women's Tennis Team

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Three Tusculum College student-athletes have been named to the 2010 All-South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Team announced league officials Wednesday. Junior Katelyn Doss and the freshman duo of Courtney Conley and Taylor Patterson were selected to the All-SAC Second Team as selected by a vote of the league's nine tennis coaches.

The Tusculum trio has led the Pioneers (16-3) to a 7-1 conference record to capture a share of the program's fifth SAC Championship.

Doss, a native of Bristol, Va., returns to the All-Conference Second Team for a third consecutive year with an 11-8 singles record, mostly at the top flight. Doss and No. 1 doubles partner Caroline Crowe also went 14-5, including 6-2 in league play. During her career at Tusculum, Doss has tallied a 39-18 record in singles and 41-22 in doubles action.

Conley, a rookie from Bristol, Tenn., has been a standout for Tusculum at No. 2 singles, where she has posted an 11-4 record, including 5-2 in SAC matches. Conley, who joined the program in January, has also gone 12-3 in doubles play, including 11-3 at the second flight with Patterson. Earlier this year, Conley was named SAC Player of the Week.

Patterson, a Lexington, S.C. product, has also enjoyed a fine rookie campaign, has recorded a 15-4 singles worksheet, including 6-2 in league contests. Patterson has also won seven of her last nine singles matches. She has also gone 14-3 in doubles matches this season.

The Pioneers are the No. 2 seed in this week's Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament and have received a bye to Friday's semifinal round, where they will face the winner of Thursday's Wingate University/Catawba College match. Tusculum's match on Friday will be at 9 a.m. at the Rock Hill Tennis Center in Rock Hill, S.C.
