Pioneers notch seventh straight win, defeat Carson-Newman 6-3

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College women's tennis team extended its winning streak to seven matches with a 6-3 victory in South Atlantic Conference play over arch-rival Carson-Newman College on Wednesday, notching two wins in doubles play and taking four of six points in singles action at the Carson-Newman Tennis Complex.

Tusculum (13-1, 4-0 SAC) remains atop the SAC standings with its seventh straight win, while Carson-Newman (6-3, 1-3 SAC) its third match in its last five.

Caroline Crowe and Katelyn Doss recorded their 10th doubles win of the season with an 8-5 victory to kick off the afternoon, while Blake Thompson and Katie Hillis notched the Pioneers' second point of the day with an 8-3 win in the third doubles matchup. Courtney Conley (7-6, 6-3) and Taylor Patterson (6-2, 7-5) won their singles matches in straight sets, as Thompson (6-0, 6-2) and Megan Buckmaster (6-3, 6-3) recorded the two deciding points for the Pioneers.

Tusculum returns to the court on Saturday when the Pioneers host Brevard College to continue their SAC schedule. Play is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
