Tusculum wins sixth in a row in 9-0 victory over Catawba

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College women's tennis team won its six straight match as the Pioneers posted a 9-0 South Atlantic Conference victory over Catawba College Saturday at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

Tusculum (12-1, 3-0 SAC) swept the three doubles matches, including and 8-2 win at the third flight by Blake Thompson and Katie Hills over Jennifer Dameron and Maggie McKee.

TC made it a clean sweep in singles play, including three-set wins by Taylor Patterson and Thompson. Patterson rallied from a frame down to defeat Catawba's Steffi Cook, 4-6, 6-1, (10-7). Thompson held off McKee at No. 5 singles, 7-5, 4-6, 10-4.

Tusculum's Katelyn Doss, Courtney Conley, Caroline Crowe and Megan Buckmaster each recorded singles wins for the Pioneers. Catawba falls to 9-12 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

Tusculum is back in action on Wednesday as they take on arch-rival Carson-Newman College for a 2 p.m. match in Jefferson City, Tenn. It will be a rematch of last year's NCAA Division II Tournament showdown.
