Tusculum wins fifth in a row, Pioneers beat Wingate 7-2

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Taylor Patterson accounted for a pair of points to lead the Tusculum College women's tennis team to a 7-2 South Atlantic Conference victory over Wingate University Friday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The Pioneers (11-1, 2-0 SAC) capture its fifth consecutive win, while the Bulldogs fall to 7-5 overall and 3-1 in SAC play.

Tusculum captured two of the three doubles points including 8-6 pro set victories at the second and third flights. Patterson and No. 2 doubles partner Courtney Conley defeated the Wingate pair of Hollyn Alberghini and Samantha Alschlager. Blake Thompson and Katie Hillis won their No. 3 doubles flight against Helen Goreski and Ewa Opala.

Wingate's Kara Stasikelis and Kelli Ferguson won their No. 1 doubles match against Tusculum's Katelyn Dos and Caroline Crowe.

The Pioneers won five of the six singles matches, including victories by Doss, Conley, Patterson, Thompson and Megain Buckmaster.

Tusculum hosts Catawba College on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
