LADY EAGLES EDGE TUSCULUM 5-4 IN Women's TENNIS

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. --- Carson-Newman rallied from a 2-1 deficit after doubles to edge visiting Tusculum 5-4 in South Atlantic Conference Women's tennis action. With the win, the Lady Eagles (5-1, 3-0 SAC) take over sole possession of first place in the conference, while the Pioneers fall to 11-3, 2-1 SAC.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Caroline Crowe and Katelyn Doss won 8-5 over C-N's Amanda Bartlett and Taryn Cappadona. TC also earned a point at No. 3 doubles as Blake Thompson and Bronwyn Hartley won 8-4.

In singles, the Lady Eagles were victorious in the top three flights, including three-set wins by Bartlett and Cappadona to give C-N a 4-2 lead. Carson-Newman clinched the deciding point at No. 5 singles by Cassie Moulton as she defeated Thompson.

Tusculum returns home on Friday when the Pioneers host Tennessee Wesleyan for a 4 p.m. match at the Nichols Tennis Complex. It begins a six-match home-stand for the Pioneers.
