TUSCULUM Women's TENNIS INKS KRISTEN KEEFER


GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Kristen Keefer has signed a national letter of intent to attend Tusculum College and play tennis for the Pioneers announced TC Women's coach Tommy Arnett.

Keefer, a native of Darnestown, Md., played her prep tennis at Northwest High School. She posted a career singles record of 23-1 and was named her team's most valuable player the past two years playing at the No. 1 flight.

"Kristen is an outstanding young lady who will make a positive impact for our program," said Arnett.

She garnered Gazette All-Star Team honorable mention accolades while also serving as team captain in 2006 and 2007. She advanced to the semifinals of the County Tournament in 2006. She was the recipient of the 2007 Jaguar Award, which is the highest athletic award given to a Northwest HS student-athlete who best represents their sport on and off the field.

Keefer has played the last six years at the Montgomery County Tennis Association (MCTA).

Off the court, she has been a member of the Academic Honor Roll every year and was selected to the Quill and Scroll Society. She also received the Minds in Motion Award four times.

Tusculum College, located in Greeneville Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
