Harriman makes 15 saves for Pioneers at Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. --- Kaitlyn Gregory scored three second-half goals to help Anderson University to a 7-0 victory over Tusculum University in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer Wednesday afternoon.

Gregory scord in the 50th, 51st and 63rd minute for the Trojans (5-3-1, 4-1-1 SAC), who outshot the Pioneers (1-7-1, 1-5-0 SAC) by a 34-3 margin in the match. McKenna Falarski and Madison Bowling scored in the final four minutes of the first half and Mary Krieger and Kaky Sears added goals in the last eight minutes of the second half for the Trojans.

Tusculum goalkeeper Emma Harriman finished the match with a career-high 15 saves, the third-most in a single game in school history. Harriman, who made nine saves in the first half and six in the second half, trails only Whitney Wardrop (18 saves vs. Carson-Newman in 2005) and Kelly Gipson (17 saves vs. ETSU in 1997) on the single-game saves list for the Pioneers.

Anderson hit the frame three times in the first half, and finally broke through at 41:05 as Falarski dribbled through the defense and beat Harriman to the far side. At 43:47, Bowling scored her first of the season as she put home a rebound of a shot by Leanna Guion to give the Trojans a 2-0 lead at intermission.

Gregory scored twice in 48 seconds to double the Anderson lead to 4-0, scoring off crosses from Meggie Powell at 49:49 and Catherine Nardella at 50:37. Gregory would finish the hat trick at 62:25 as she took a pass from Sophie Lodovici and chipped a shot past Harriman for a 5-0 advantage.

The Trojans closed the scoring as Krieger gathered a pass from Callie Davis and scored at 82:48, followed by an unassisted goal by Sears with 1:52 to play.

Anderson had a 12-1 edge in corner kicks over Tusculum, and used three goalkeepers in the victory with Victoria McGovern playing the first half, and Macy McDufford and Arriel Frey splitting time in the second half.

The Pioneers will return home to welcome Limestone on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. at Pioneer Field. The Saints fell to 2-6-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the SAC with a 3-0 loss at Wingate on Wednesday.
