Pioneers move up to sixth in United Soccer Coaches region rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- The Tusculum women's soccer team moved up one spot to sixth in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Southeast Region rankings, through games of Oct. 1.

The Pioneers won their only match last week over Newberry by a score of 2-1 and moved past North Georgia, which dropped from fourth to ninth in the region following a pair of losses.

Flagler continues to hold onto the top spot in the region rankings, followed by Carson-Newman, Columbus State, Limestone and Wingate. Trailing Tusculum in the survey is Queens in seventh, followed by Young Harris, North Georgia and Belmont Abbey rounding out the top 10.

A total of four South Atlantic Conference schools (Carson-Newman, Wingate, Tusculum, Queens) are represented in this week's rankings, along with two Pioneer non-conference opponents in Columbus State and Limestone.

The United Soccer Coaches College Rankings are an indicator of week-to-week status of qualified programs and in no way should be used as a guide or indicator of eligibility for selection to the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship.

The Pioneers, who lost 2-1 at Limestone on Monday night to drop to 6-3 overall, host Lees-McRae in a non-conference match Wednesday at Pioneer Field starting at 5 p.m., followed by Coker at home Sunday at 2 p.m.
