SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- The Tusculum College women's soccer team scored three unanswered goals, including Taylor Lewis' match-winner in overtime as the Pioneers rallied to a 3-2 victory over Newberry College Friday night at the Upward Star Center.

The Pioneers (4-5-1, 1-3-1 SAC) capture their first South Atlantic Conference win of the season and snap a four-match winless streak.

Tusculum dominated possession and out-shot the Wolves (1-6-2, 1-4-0 SAC) 10-3 in the first half, but Newberry made the most of those three shots. Newberry's Sara Silvestro notched her first goal of the year when she finished off a cross from Michelle Calmeyn in the 20th minute.

In the 41st minute, Calmeyn scored her seventh goal of 2015 when she curled a cross to the far post from Morgan Powers as the Wolves carried a 2-0 advantage into the intermission.

Tusculum came out of the break on fire and trimmed the deficit in half in the 49th minute when Carlie Thornber sent in a blast from 25 yards out for her third goal of the season.

The Pioneers got several great chances as they got off 14 shots, including four on frame. But in the 85th minute, the Wolves were whistled for a hand ball foul in the penalty area. Katja Andersson buried the penalty kick for the equalizer to tie the match at 2-2 and sending the Pioneers into their third straight overtime contest.

At the 93:30 mark of the match, Lewis scored on a breakaway goal for her sixth scoring tally of the season and her second match-winner of the year. It was also her 11th match-winner of her career, tying her for fourth place all-time with TC great Kelsa Eschmann (1998-2001).

Tusculum freshman keeper Hannah Graham picked up the victory in her first collegiate outing as she came off the bench at halftime for starter Miriah Martin. Rebecca Darley suffered the loss as she recorded 13 saves for the Wolves.

The Pioneers finished the contest out-shooting Newberry by a 28-3 margin, including 18-0 after halftime.

Tusculum returns to action on Wednesday as the Pioneers take on Brevard College in a league contest.
