--- Garcelle Alequine recorded a pair of goals late in the first
half to lead 13th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University to a 6-1 victory
over visiting Tusculum College Saturday night in South Atlantic
Conference women's soccer action.
L-R's Leah Mullins notched her eighth goal of the season as she
found the back of the net in the 19th minute for a 1-0 lead.
Tusculum answered in the 37th minute as headed in her second goal
of 2015, which was assisted by teammate Coneisha Waugh.
The Bears (4-2, 1-1 SAC) answered less than a minute later as
Alequine scored her fifth goal of the season to put the home team
ahead 2-1. She tallied her second goal of the night with a header
into the net on a pass from Casey Marlin as L-R led 3-1 at the
intermission.
Emmi Dunn, Kendall Smith and Jessica Feronti scored a goal each for
the Bears in the second half. L-R keeper Andrea Leano picked up the
victory as she finished with four saves.
Tusculum goalkeeper Miriah Martin went the distance as she
accounted for eight saves on the night.
Tusculum (3-4, 0-2 SAC) returns home Wednesday night when the
Pioneers host Lincoln Memorial University for a 7 p.m. league tilt
at Pioneer Field.
