GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Newberry College's Sarah Sager scored two goals, while Gabrielle Brodie added a goal and an assist in the Wolves' 5-1 South Atlantic Conference win over host Tusculum College on rainy Friday night at Pioneer Field.

Newberry (10-3-3, 8-2-1 SAC), who have already clinched a top-four seed for next week's SAC Tournament, moves into sole possession of third place in the conference standings. It was the Wolves first win ever at Pioneer Field and only the second victory against Tusculum in the 20 all-time meetings.

Both teams had already clinched a berth into next week's SAC Tournament as the official bracket and seeding will be announced by the league office later this weekend.

Newberry scored two quick goals to take a 2-0 lead. Sager notched her first goal of the night in the third minute and Casey Welsey notched her first goal of the season, scoring in the 10th minute.

In the 39th minute, Newberry was whistled for a handball violation inside the penalty area. TC's Olivia Kilgore deposited her penalty kick into the right corner to trim the deficit to 2-1.

But Newberry closed out the match with three straight goals by Sager, Brayden Miller and Gabrielle Brodie to end the contest.

Newberry out-shot Tusculum by a 25-14 margin, while the Pioneers owned a 6-5 edge in penalty kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Marissa Williams finished with 6 saves for the Pioneers as she went the distance. Newberry keeper Alexis Carrillo made five stops in securing the victory for the visitors.

It was Senior Night for Tusculum as Friday was the final home match for the Pioneers' Marissa Williams, Nikki Arthur, Jenique Thombs, Katie Chadwick and Alisha Pugh.
