Kavic, James selected for Tusculum Women's soccer ?Wall of Fame?

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College women's soccer team has announced the 2014 honorees who have been selected for the program's Wall of Fame announced TC head coach Mike Joy.

Former All-Region standouts Kourtney Kavic and Tramicka James will be recognized in halftime ceremonies at this Friday's South Atlantic Conference match versus Newberry College. Kickoff time is slated for 5 p.m. at the Niswonger Sports Complex and Pioneer Field.

The Tusculum duo were teammates from 2009-2012 as the Pioneers posted a 46-24-9 combined record.

KOURTNEY KAVIC '13

Kourtney Kavic played in 74 career matches and accounted for 10 goals and 10 assists for her 30 career points.

In 2012, she garnered NSCAA All-Southeast Region Team honors as the TC defense limited South Atlantic Conference teams to just 40 shots on goal in conference play, the second-lowest total in the league.

The 2012 All-SAC second team selection helped the Pioneer defense record nine shutouts in 18 matches, including a stretch in which Tusculum allowed just two goals in a span of eight contests. As a team, the Pioneers ranked 37th in NCAA Division II statistics in goals against average (0.79), 32nd in shutout percentage (0.50) and 26th in winning percentage (.750) as TC posted a 12-3-3 record.

During her 2009 rookie campaign, Kavic posted six goals and four assists in leading Tusculum to 15-5-3 record and an at-large berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament where the Pioneers advanced to the second round of the Southeast Regional.

Kavic, was a member of back-to-back Ontario Indoor Cup championship teams while attending Abbey Park High School.

The Oakville, Ontario native earned her bachelor's degree from Tusculum in 2013 while majoring in elementary education. Kavic was an honor student and was a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll. She is completing her first year on the Pioneer coaching staff and is working on her master's degree at Tusculum in human resource development with completion date slated for May 2016.

TRAMICKA JAMES '13

Tramicka James accounted for one of the best scoring careers in program history. Her 54 career goals are the third most ever by a Pioneer, while her 23 assists ranks sixth in the TC record book. During her 79-match career, she also tallied 131 points which are third in the TC history and her 14 career match-winning goals are the second most by a Tusculum player.

James is the only player in program history to earn All-Region honors four times in a career.

She finished her senior season with 11 goals and seven assists for 29 points in 18 matches for the Pioneers, who finished 12-3-3 and advanced to the South Atlantic Conference Tournament semifinals. In that season, the Wilson, North Carolina native finished the year ranked third in the SAC in goals, tied for third in assists and tied for second in points to earn All-SAC first team recognition. James' average of 1.61 points per match ranked her 32nd in the final NCAA Division II rankings, while her five match-winning goals were ranked 19th in NCAA II. James also finished 42nd in the nation in total points and 48th in goals per game at 0.61.

Her best season on the Tusculum pitch came in 2010 as she posted 17 goals and four assists for her 38 total points.

James graduated from Tusculum in 2013 while majoring in sport management.

Friday will also be the Pioneers' Senior Night as Tusculum honors its five women's soccer seniors in pre-match ceremonies, including: Nikki Arthur, Katie Chadwick, Alisha Pugh, Jenique Thombs and Marissa Williams.

Following Friday's match, the Pioneers will await the seeding and pairings for the SAC Tournament. Quarterfinal matches will be played on Tuesday at campus sites. The SAC Tournament semifinal and final will be held in Rock Hill, South Carolina next weekend (Nov. 7 & 9).
