GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Kelsey Pelletier recorded a pair of goals and two assists to lead the sixth-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team to a 6-1 victory at Tusculum College Wednesday afternoon at Pioneer Field.

Columbus State (5-0-1), the top-ranked team in this week's NSCAA Division II Southeast Region Poll, snapped the Pioneers' (5-2-1) four-match winning streak, while also ending TC's string of 545 consecutive minutes of not allowing a goal.

Pelletier put CSU on the board in the 14th minute when she took a pass from Nicole Corcione and threaded a shot just inside the far right post. Less than a minute later, Ashley Miller notched her first goal of 2014 with her blast from 25 yards away that found the upper left third of the goal.

Kiana Nicholson capped the CSU scoring in the opening half with her second goal of the year, finding the back of the net at the 29:08 mark. The goal was assisted by Chelsea Person.

Tusculum applied offensive pressure to start the second half and got a great scoring chance in the 48th minute as Gabrielle Whitt's shot from the right side was stopped by CSU keeper Meosha Hatcher. TC's Taylor Lewis gathered in the rebound in front of the goal, but whistled for being in the offside position.

The Pioneers broke through in the 59th minute when Shannele Sunderland gathered in a CSU turnover from 40 yards out, dribbled in and beat Hatcher inside the near post to put Tusculum on the scoreboard. It was Sunderland's second goal of the season.

Tusculum had another great scoring opportunity in the 82nd minute as Jenique Thombs' shot hit the near post and ricocheted to the front of the goal where Lewis headed in an attempt from point-blank range. But Lewis' shot was stopped by Hatcher to keep it a two-goal advantage for the Cougars.

Columbus State put the match out of reach with three goals in a five-minute span as Corcione, Person and Pelletier all added scoring tallies to provide the final scoring margin.

CSU starting keeper Maylyn Parsons picked up the victory as she faced three shots in the opening half. Hatcher posted two saves and allowed one goal in her 45 minutes off the bench.

Tusculum keeper Marissa Williams went the distance as he recorded five saves on the afternoon.

The Pioneers begin a four-match road swing on Saturday when Tusculum travels to Wingate University for a 5 p.m. South Atlantic Conference contest.
