Tusculum College placed two players on the Food Lion South
Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer All-Tournament team, which was
announced following Wingate University's 2-1 victory over Lincoln
Memorial University in the championship match on Sunday.
Junior midfielder Nikki Arthur and freshman midfielder Olivia
Kilgore were honored for their performance in the tournament, which
saw the Pioneers advance to the semifinals before being eliminated
by eventual champion Wingate.
Arthur scored the only goal of the match on a first-half penalty
kick in the Pioneers' 1-0 victory over Queens in a quarterfinal
match. The goal was her third of the season and helped Tusculum
advance to the semifinal round for the fourth time in the last five
years. Meanwhile, Kilgore was the anchor of a Tusculum defense that
limited Queens to one shot on goal in the quarterfinal round as the
Pioneers recorded their 11th shutout of the season.
Tusculum concluded its 2013 season with a 10-7-3 overall record,
the program's 16th season of 10 or more wins in the last 17 years.
The Pioneers finished third in the SAC with a 7-2-2 record in
conference matches and tied Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne for the fewest
goals allowed in league action with six.
