James, Turner named All-SAC in Women's soccer
ROCK HILL, S.C. ---

Tusculum College sophomore Tramicka James and senior Courtney Turner have been named All-South Atlantic Conference in Women's soccer for the 2010 season, the SAC office announced Thursday. James was a first-team selection at forward while Turner was a second-team pick at midfield.

They are the 48th and 49th All-SAC selections for Tusculum since joining the South Atlantic Conference for the 1999 season, and the Pioneers have had at least one first-team All-Conference pick in each of the last 11 years.

Turner (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) is the just the second Tusculum Women's soccer player to be named All-South Atlantic Conference all four years of her career, joining Tara Henderson (2000 through 2003). Turner was twice a first-team pick (2007, 2009) and twice a second-team choice (2008, 2010), as was Henderson.

James (Wilson, N.C.) was a 2009 second-team selection last season and moved to the first team this year after sharing the SAC lead in goals per game and ranking 14th in Division II at 0.94 goals per game. James has scored 17 goals this season to rank sixth on the Tusculum single-season list, while her 28 career goals are tied for fifth all-time.

Overall, James leads the Pioneers with 17 goals and 38 points, and shares the team lead in game-winning goals with three. She has scored at least one goal in eight of Tusculum's last nine games, amassing 14 goals and three assists for 31 points over that span.

Turner has picked up four goals and seven assists for 15 points this season, ranking her fourth on the team in points and second in assists. She has dished out all seven of her assists in the Pioneers' last eight matches, and the team is 6-2-0 this season when she registers a point.

She has started 83 consecutive games at Tusculum from the start of her career, the third-longest streak in program history, and has accumulated 14 goals and 25 assists for 53 points. Her 25 assists are tied with current teammate Michelle Meade for fourth place on Tusculum's career list.

Catherine Hauck of Lenoir-Rhyne was honored as the SAC Player of the Year, while Juliana Conte of Catawba and Denesha Soto of Lenoir-Rhyne shared the Freshman of the Year award. Adrian Blewitt of Lenoir-Rhyne captured Coach of the Year honors for leading the Bears to the SAC regular-season championship, and Abby Martin of Mars Hill was recognized as the SAC Scholar-Athlete.

In addition to James' share of the goals per match championship, the Pioneers also captured SAC statistical championships in team goals per match (2.18), team assists per match (2.76) and team points per match (7.71).

The Pioneers (9-8-1) will face Wingate in a SAC semifinal match Friday at 3 p.m. at the Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex in Rock Hill. The winner will play the winner of Friday's other semifinal match between Lenoir-Rhyne and Newberry for the SAC championships Sunday at 1 p.m.
