Pioneers seeded second in SAC Tournament, will host LMU Wednesday

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The No. 21 Tusculum College women's soccer team is the second seed in this week's Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament, after finishing the regular season one point shy of No. 11 Carson-Newman College, the 2009 SAC champion. The second-seeded Pioneers will host seventh-seeded Lincoln Memorial University on Wednesday, whom the Pioneers edged 5-4 in their regular season matchup. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Upper Soccer Field.

Tusculum (14-4-1) posted a superb 6-2 record against league opponents to finish the regular season second in the conference standings, three slots higher than its projected position in the preseason poll. Sixth-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne University defeated the Pioneers 2-1 in Saturday's regular season finale, scoring ten minutes into extra time to hand TC its second conference loss of the season.

The winner of the Tusculum/Lincoln Memorial quarterfinal will square off against the victor of the No. 3 Newberry/No. 6 Lenoir-Rhyne matchup in Friday's semifinal round at the Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex in Rock Hill, S.C. at 6 p.m.

Top-seeded Carson-Newman will face off against eighth-seeded Brevard College on Wednesday; Fourth-seeded Catawba College will host fifth-seeded Wingate University in the other quarterfinal.

Quarterfinal winners advance to the tournament semifinals, which will be held at Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex in Rock Hill, S.C. on Friday, November 6. The two Women's semifinals will be played at 6 p.m.

The Women's tournament championship will be Sunday, November 8 at 4 p.m. at Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex.

Admission to all Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament events is $5 for adults and $2 for college students and children.
