Pioneers slide to No. 22 in NSCAA/adidas poll

KANSAS CITY, Kan. --- The Tusculum College women's soccer team is ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Division II poll for the second consecutive week, dropping one spot to No. 22 in the rankings after posting a 1-0-1 worksheet against Catawba and Armstrong Atlantic this past weekend.

Tusculum (12-3-1, 5-1 SAC) has put together an impressive record over the last 12 matches, compiling a 10-1-1 worksheet over that span to move into second place in the South Atlantic Conference standings. This season's Pioneer attack is led by a talented trio of freshmen, including SAC Player of the Week Tramicka James, who leads the team in goals (9), assists (7) and points (25) through 16 matches.

Freshmen forwards Kayla Durden and Kourtney Kavic have also chipped in offensively this season with six and five goals, respectively, while sophomore defender Claire Duncan has found the back of the net a career-high five times thus far in contribution to a well-balanced Pioneer attack. Sophomore midfielder Michelle Meade and junior defender Courtney Turner, a 2007 All-American, have also contributed significantly in the attacking third this season, recording seven and six assists, respectively for the Pioneers.

This marks the second consecutive week the Pioneers have been ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation, entering the poll for the first time this season a week ago at No. 21.

Tusculum returns to the pitch on Saturday when the Pioneers host Wingate University at Pioneer Field to resume their SAC schedule. The match is slated for 2 p.m.
