TANNER AND FERRIS HEADLINE ALL-SAC PERFORMERS FOR Women's SOCCER

Danielle Tanner ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The Tusculum College women's soccer team placed four players on the 2008 All-South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer teams, as forward Danielle Tanner was named SAC Player of the Year and defender Nicole Ferris garnered SAC Scholar Athlete of the Year for the second season in a row.

Tanner, a native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, finished the regular season with a SAC-best 21 goals and 49 points to earn first team honors as well. Joining Tanner on the All-SAC teams are forward Kelly Barron, midfielder Courtney Turner, and Ferris who were all selected to the second team. Barron finished second on the squad with 14 goals and 31 points to conclude her collegiate career with her first all-conference selection.

Turner and Ferris each earned their second career all-conference selection, while Ferris was named SAC Scholar Athlete for the second time in her tenure as a Pioneer. Turner, a sophomore from Cocoa Beach, Fla., followed her All-American season of a year ago with two goals and five assists in 20 matches with the black and orange.

Ferris, a three-time ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District selection, has a 3.87 GPA as a Sport Management major at Tusculum. She was the 2006 Tusculum Academic Freshman of the Year and is a member of the Aphla Chi Honor Society as well as the Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll and SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

The Pioneers concluded their season this past Tuesday when they fell to Lenoir-Rhyne 2-1 in a quarterfinal match of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament.
