GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- South Atlantic Conference scoring
leader Danielle Tanner and the Tusculum College
women's soccer team begin the final week of the regular season on
the cusp of a mid-level seed in the SAC Tournament, after dropping
a pair of road matches to King College (Tenn.) and conference foe
Wingate University last week.Tanner, a senior from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, has found the back of the net in four of her last six matches, notching both of TC's goals in a 2-1 extra time victory against Catawba College on Oct. 18. With her SAC-leading 44 points this season, the 5-7 forward has moved into third all-time at Tusculum with 91 points (40 goals, 11 assists) in two seasons with the black and orange. The two-time SAC Player of the Week is also ranked among the top 10 players in the nation in points (tied fifth) and goals (tied sixth).
Freshman Michelle Meade has started the last six matches for TC, entering the week second in the conference with nine assists through 17 matches. A product of Greeneville HS in Greeneville, Tenn., Meade also leads all SAC freshman in assists, and is third on the Pioneers with 11 points this season. The 5-5 midfielder tied a career-high with two assists against Catawba on Oct. 18, feeding Tanner's fourth match-winner of the season nine minutes into extra time.
The Pioneers travel to Charlotte, N.C. on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match against Queens University of Charlotte. Tusculum then returns home for senior day on Saturday when it hosts Lenoir-Rhyne University in a conference matchup to conclude the regular season.
