TANNER'S TWO GOALS LEAD Women's SOCCER PAST PFEIFFER

Danielle Tanner MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Senior forward Danielle Tanner led the Tusculum College women's soccer team past Pfeiffer University with a pair of second half goals, as the Pioneers beat the Falcons 3-1 on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 7-5-1 on the season while the Falcons fall to 8-4.

The match remained scoreless through much of the first half despite several chances by both sides, until Tusculum notched the first goal of the match in the 39th minute. Senior Kelly Barron beat the defense after a through ball from Lisa Andriano, and tucked the ball neatly past the Pfeiffer keeper for her 12th goal of the season to up the Pioneers up 1-0 heading into the break.

Tanner extended the advantage to 3-0 with a pair of goals in the 57th and 63rd minutes for her 15th and 16th goals of the season. Both goals were assisted by Courtney Turner which moved her into third on the team with four helpers this season. The Falcons cut the lead to 3-1 in the 81st minute on a converted penalty kick by Alyssa Wombwell.

Tanner led the way for the Pioneers with a pair of goals, notching her sixth multi-goal match of the season. Barron took a team-high seven shots in the match while Tanner added six of her own. Junior goalkeeper Vanessa Fyffe played the full 90 minutes for the black and orange, allowing one goal and making three saves.

Tusculum returns to the pitch on Sunday when it travels to Murfreesboro, N.C. for a noon match against Chowan University.
