TUSCULUM Women's SOCCER EARNS TOP SEED FOR NCAA SOUTHEAST REGIONAL

INDIANAPOLIS --- For a third consecutive year and the fourth time in five seasons, the Tusculum College Women's soccer team has punched its ticket for the NCAA Division II Tournament.

The 48-team field was announced on Monday and the Pioneers will be the top-seed in the Southeast Regional. The first and second rounds of each regional will be hosted at campus sites. The Southeast Regional will be held on the campus of Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Ga. and in Columbus, Ga. on the campus of Columbus State University.

As the top seed, Tusculum earns a bye and advances to Sunday's second round match, which will be played at 1 p.m. in Savannah. Tusculum will face the winner between No. 4 seed Armstrong Atlantic and No. 5 Lincoln Memorial University. The AASU/LMU match will be played Friday in Savannah.

In the other half of the Regional, Carson-Newman College earned the No. 2 seed and a bye. No. 3 Columbus State will host No. 6 Queens University of Charlotte on Friday with the winner of that match playing Carson-Newman in Sunday's second round in Columbus.

Tusculum (14-6) is the defending regional champion as the Pioneers advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2006. The Pioneers have won five of their last six matches.

The third round and national quarterfinals will be held Nov. 16 and 18 at a site to be determined. The national semifinals and final are slated for Nov. 29 and Dec. 1 at Orange Park Ala.
