JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. --- Danielle Tanner scored a pair of early goals as fifth-seeded Tusculum College defeated No. 4 Carson-Newman College Wednesday afternoon in a quarterfinal match of the 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament held at McCown Field.

The Pioneers (14-5), ranked No. 18 in NCAA Division II, advance to Friday's semifinal match against top-seeded Lincoln Memorial University. That match will be held in Rock Hill, S.C. at 6 p.m.

Tusculum got on the scoreboard first when Tanner tallied her 19th goal of the season, six minutes into the match as she scored off a rebound. Tanner added her second scoring tally at the 19:27 mark as she found the back of the net, on an assist by Kelly Barron.

Carson-Newman's Sage Sizemore cut the deficit in half in the 35th minute with her eighth goal of the season.

Tusculum rookie keeper Tori Hadjopoulos recorded a dozen saves, including nine in the second half. Carson-Newman out-shot Tusculum 30-6, while the Pioneers have won their last five matches.
